Nikos Veliotis: Six Bagatelles, Op. 9

SIX BAGATELLES, OP. 9

When Nikos and I discussed 'listen' a couple of months ago, we came to no real conclusion about any conditions of his piece. What he created has left a huge impression on me. Nikos is a musician whose music I'm regularly loopy over, and his work here, a natural extension of Radial, winks at both Cage and Webern.

6 Bagatelles, Opus 9 is a strong work and we're super-proud to host and audition this complex side of Veliotis' composing.

Homage to Webern, Nikos?

Nice work, but I don't hear any hints of Webern...If there is such a connection, it's so oblique as to be meaningless.

Besides the title, there's the final segment. Until then, I agree, it's almost anti-Webernian. No washes/walls for the Viennese.

Nice but not weberian at all.
Remind me of somme quite Teitelbaum from, euh... long time ago.

oh well.... I thought it was clear...
the title is a play of words regarding to the website... you know bagatellen!
in anycase I do admire Webern very very much, to the point that I would never include hints of his work in mine...

oh well... I thought it was clear... it is just a play of words connected to the bagatellen website. Because Bagatellen asked me to do this piece... You know... Bagatellen?

In anycase I admire Webern very very much, to the point that I would never include hints of his style in my music!

Yo! It WORKS! (Or was that a bit of gratuitous advertising for the group of the same name?)

Posted by: Dan Warburton at June 29, 2006 3:31 AM
