Posted by: walto at April 14, 2008 5:06 PMSorry for the non sequitur nature of this post. It was intended as a response to Rob C’s request in Goebbels ROW discussion, but due to the obstinacy of the Bags publishing innnards only manifested on-site yesterday.
My pick out of the drunks depicted above is probably Tallulah Bankhead , what a dish! Sidney Bechet had excellent taste. Screamin’ Jay comes in second.

I preferred the first one. "2" resulted in the presidency of Ronald Reagan.

Posted by: djll at April 15, 2008 12:43 PMI’m still wondering by what “scientific” methodology did Hellman hatch his spirits-soaked “15”. It’s a pretty specialized assemblage with lots of notables missing.
Posted by: derek at April 15, 2008 1:43 PMI'm still wondering why I keep getting Internal Server Errors but then my comments appear, though now it appears that they're not showing up on the main page under recent comments.
Posted by: Sarah Lockhart at April 15, 2008 2:12 PMYou and me both, Sarah. I'm 99.9 percent sure it's a server-related issue, but the fine folks at West Host (our server) deny culpability in unequivocal terms. Our sub is about to run out though, so I'm planning to use the potential for re-up as strongarm leverage for a fix.
Posted by: derek at April 16, 2008 9:41 AMWow, thanks Derek. Yeah, I LOVE Oliver Reed, even in bad movies. And he was a great talkshow guest in his day, often drunk and utterly compelling in how he dominated the space + energy of the show.
Movie-wise, obviously my favorites are "The Devils" and "The Brood," but there's an obscure and very weird sci-fi flick he was in called "ZPG" (Zero Population Growth) that a buddy of mine came across when he bought a whole bunch of VHS tapes from a GoodWill store. Not sure if there's ever been a DVD of it.
And always had a soft spot for post-Sab 80's Ozzy, when he was just so bumblingly and hilariously unthreatening all while the PMRC and religious right tried to portray him as Satan's regional district manager. Both Randy and Jake were pretty hot shit on guitar too...
Posted by: Rob Cambre at April 17, 2008 8:03 AMI love Oliver Reed as Bernie in "Tommy". Just great.
