I'm happy to announce a new little feature we're hosting: the Bagatellen "listen" series.
Here's the deal:
Each month we're going to host a new, original piece of music written specifically for the site and its readers. The music will be available for download for a period of three to four weeks, then a new one will rotate in. After it disappears you're pretty much on your own, but the associated page will remain.
Props to Tomas Korber for such niceness. It's a fantastic initial installment and we're excited to have it up for the sharing.
Next month, Jeff Gburek. And it kills.
Bon appetit.
Posted by al on December 8, 2005 8:11 PMI realize that excessive back-slapping is generally frowned upon in the Bags bullpen handbook, but this is pretty damn cool, Al. What with the new Listen Series & Joe's return, it's been a banner week for the site.

Happy to see this baby of yours get launched. Nicely done-and an auspicious artist for the inaugural launch.
Good job Al & Tomas. Had a quiet listen at work--sounded good. Will blast at home....
Posted by: Brian Olewnick at December 9, 2005 8:06 AMNice bit of music Tomas and a great idea for Bags in general. I wouldn't complain if it was more then once a month...
Posted by: hatta (Robert) at December 9, 2005 11:40 AMI think this is a great idea.
Posted by: .:. at December 9, 2005 12:17 PMhey guys, thanks. i also think the "listen series" is a great idea and look forward to future installments. btw: i'm usually not such a headphone freak, but for "silkworms (lanikai)" i'd recommend listening at least once on headphones.
Posted by: tomas at December 9, 2005 1:41 PMI concur fully to listening w/ cans, which is how I got acquainted with it last month. My daughter and I listened in open air last night, dialing in a good center freq on the subwoofer. Very swell.
Thanks for the feedback on this feature, all. It's going to be a fun one.
Posted by: al at December 9, 2005 5:53 PMhey al - you listen with your daughter to this, that's great - how old is she? how do kids react to this kind of music?
Posted by: tomas at December 9, 2005 6:22 PMI played Conspiracy Theory to Max (7) and he told me to "turn the noise down."
Posted by: Dan Warburton at December 9, 2005 11:28 PMGreat idea and a nice choice to launch the series.
Congratulations Al, and great piece Tomas.
Posted by: Richard Pinnell at December 10, 2005 11:51 AMTomas, she'll be 7 in February. She is more cold than hot with the far out music. She prefers the bubble gum pop but she'll listen to improv with me from time to time. I think she reacts more to it as cool sound than anything else.
Posted by: al at December 10, 2005 8:32 PMWonderful start for a great idea!

I found the guitar notes at the end a really funny choice, but I have no idea if that was the intention.
[/spoiler]
I finally listened to this today. DIdn't realize there was another comment on the guitar notes, 'cause I'd wanted to mention that the unexpectedness of the guitar figure at the end was nice and sticks in my mind though it was a small part of the piece.
-it drives the icy emotional feel home at the end.
(really, I wanted to post to also support the listen idea.. looking forward to more)
